New Delhi experienced water accumulation at various locations in the city following heavy rainfall on Thursday. Reports were made to authorities regarding fallen trees and flooded roads, with office workers and pedestrians seen navigating through the rainwater during the morning rush hour. Waterlogging has been a persistent issue at the Dhaula Kuan flyover and its surrounding roads this year. The road connecting New Delhi to south Delhi and Gurgaon faced challenges due to the water accumulation. To address the problem, the Public Works Department employed mobile pumps temporarily and mentioned plans for long-term solutions. The Pul Prahladpur underpass was also affected by heavy rain, as was traffic on Ring Road near Sarai Kale Khan ISBT due to both flooding and vehicle breakdowns. Commuters on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road struggled with poor road conditions and waterlogging. The PWD mentioned deploying response teams early in the day, resolving most reported issues by noon. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi received complaints of waterlogging and fallen trees from various areas in the city. To address waterlogging in internal colony roads, MCD officials activated all control rooms in its 12 zones.Residents continued to lodge complaints about inadequate drainage maintenance, leading to overflowing drains on colony roads. However, officials reported that other areas such as Mathura Road, Pragati Maidan, ITO, and Minto Bridge were unaffected. A new drain was constructed on Purana Qila Road by the PWD to manage flooding. Overnight rain in Gurgaon caused the Delhi-Gurgaon border at Kapashera to be submerged again, causing traffic congestion and inconvenience for commuters. The lack of proper drainage in the area results in waterlogging, particularly on key routes like Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road, impacting businesses and commuters. Uncertainty about road conditions and safety hazards due to water levels were highlighted by those navigating the affected areas.
